This Week in GG4SS - February 22 - 26

Only two more weeks until March Break! Where is the time going? *Drama continues this week on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Check your schedule for your times.*Boy's Basketball - The boys have an away game at Croft on Monday. Game time is 4:00.Girl's Basketball - The girls will have an Alumni game on Wednesday from 4:00 - 5:30. Language Arts - This week we will continue to work on the Writing Trait of Word Choice.Math - We are going to start a new unit on Multiplying and Dividing Large numbers.Science - This week we will conduct another experiment on Light. Let's have another Superstar week.

This Week in GG4SS - February 15-19

Thank you to everyone who made Teacher Appreciation Week so special.  I have the best group of Superstars ever!!Boys Basketball - There is an away game this week on Tuesday against Eel Ground.Girls Basketball - The girls have a Jamboree on Thursday at Dr. Losier.  The first game is at 3:30Drama continues this week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Check your schedule for your practice times.Language Arts - This week we continue our week with Word Choice and Synonyms, Antonyms and Homonyms.Math - We will have our unit test on Multiplication and Division this week.Science - We will be conducting another experiement this week on Light.Let's have another Superstar week!

This Week in GG4SS - February 8 - 12

Welcome back to another great week in GG4SS! Only 4 weeks until March break and it is Teacher Appreciation Week.*Drama - There is drama on Wednesday and Friday. Check your schedule for your times.Boys Basketball - Boys have two games this week. One on Wednesday vs Harkins. Game time 3:30 and the other one is at Gretna Green on Thursday vs Eel Ground. Game time 3:30. Good Lucks boys.Girls Basketball - There is a practice on Tuesday from 2:30-3:30Skating - We go skating on Friday, February 12 at 9:00 at the Civic Center.  You will need helmets and skates.Valentine's Day - We will be celebrating Valentine's day on Friday afternoon.  If you have cards for your classmates, you can bring them in for Friday.Language Arts - We will be looking at the Writing Trait of Word Choice this week. As well,we will finish learning about Antonyms, synonyms and homonyms.Math - We have a one month trial on new math website called Reflex.  It is a fun way to practice your multiplication and division facts.  We will also be finishing our lesson on Division.Science - We will finish the details with our experiment on how light travels. We will also be conducting another experiment on sound.Let's have another Superstar week!

This Week in GG4SS - February 1-8

 Welcome February!! I wonder if the ground hog will see his shadow this week?*Boys basketball - There is a home game on Thursday against NSEE.  Game time is 3:45*Girls Basketball - There is an away game on Tuesday at St. Andrew's Elementary. Meet at St. Andrew's at 3:10.Drama- Listen to announcements for Drama time this week.Valentine's Day is around the corner. We will celebrate Valentine's Day on Friday, February 12. There is a class list included with your homework this week.   Language Arts - This is the last week that we will be working on the Writing Trait of Voice.  We will learn all aobut Homonyms, Synonmyms and Antonyms this week too.Math - We will be starting our lesson on Division.  Keep studying your multiplication facts.Science - We will be learning about Sound this week. Let's have another Superstar week!

This Week in GG4SS - January 25 - January 29

 Wow, it is the last week of January already!  Time is flying by.*Remember to bring your snowpants.  The weather is going to be nice and there is lots of snow to play in at noon hour.*Boys Basketball - This week the boy's team has a game on Monday afterschool at St. Andrew's Elementary. Game time is 3:30. There will also be a mini jamboree on Thursday at Dr. Losier Middle School.*Girls Basketball - There will be a practice afterschool on Tuesday and a home game will follow at 3:10 against St. Andrews.*There will be drama try-outs afterschool on Monday.Math - This week we will learn how the Multiplication table works.  We will also be using the Multiplication Trainer to practice our facts.Language Arts - We will continue learning about the writing trait of Voice. This week we will also learn about prefix, suffix and root words.Health- We will be taping our Healty Kid Videos.Let's have another Superstar Week!

This Week in GG4SS January 18-22

Welcome back to another awesome week in GG4SS! it is the third week and January already!*Remember to dress warm for outdoor play. Hopefully the weather warm up this week and you will get a chance to go outside and have fun in the snow.*Boys basketball continues this week.  Monday, the boys have an away game at St. Andrews Elementary. Game time is 3:30.Girl's Basketball - The girl's team has an away games too at Harkins Elementary.  The team will meet at Harkins at 3:10. Language Arts - This week we will continue working on Voice and compound words.Math- We will be looking at Skip Counting as a strategy to multiply.Health - We will be completing the last lesson on "Healthy Kids". Let's have another Superstart Week!

This Week in GG4SS - January 11 - January 15

 Welcome back to Week 2 of 2016.  It is going to be a fun week. *Monday we have a Skype session at 10:30 with Mrs. Levbre's class.  They want to learn more about Eastern Canada. *Our boys basketball team has an away Game on Tuesday at Eel Ground School and Thursday at NSEE. Game time is 3:30 *Girl's Basketball starts this week on Tuesday.  You will have your first practice and game afterschool on Tuesday *On Wednesday we will have a special presentation on a First Nation Literacy Lesson.   Language Arts - This week we are going to continue to learn about the Writing Trait of Voice. We will also be learning more about compound words. Math - We are going to work on Multiplication facts with 0, 1 and 10. Health - We are going to discover how exercise helps keeps us healthy.   Let's have another Superstar Week!!

This Week in GG4SS -Jan 5-8

Welcome Back to your first week of school for 2016!!  I hope everyone had a great holiday!*Great news about Mathletics...we have our school subscription back.  We can use it everyday and your results from November have not been lost :)*There is lots of snow on the ground and no dry place on our playground...you NEED to wear you snowpants when you go out for recess.  Remember to bring them.Language Arts - This week we will be focusing on Reading Comprehension activities.  In our Writing Traits, we will be focusing on Voice.Math - We will be starting our unit on Multiplication and Divison.  Remember to study your facts for our weekly quiz.Health - We will be learning about The Healthy Kid. Let's have another Superstar Week!

This Week in GG4SS - December 14 - 18

This is our last week before Chrismas holidays! The count down begin!* The Student Council has planned fun activities for all during this last week of schoolTuesday, there will be Christmas Activities in the gym, Thursday is Elf, Santa Hat day and Friday is Red and Green Day!!Wednesday - Art Richard will be treating us to music in fun in the gym at 10:00 The Home and School will be providing Free Popcorn for all on Wednesday.Greg Trevors, My Amazing Penpal, will be visiting Gretna Green on Thursday.  We will tell us about his adventures exploring the world.Friday we will have our Monthly Award ceremony at 10:45Language Arts - This week we will be working on Christmas Fun Language Arts activities.Math - We will be finishing our Unit on Patterns and working on Math Christmas activities.Social Studies - We will complete and present our Canadian Explorer projects. Let's have another Superstar week!!

We are going to learn what Code is by participating in an Hour of Code.*Remember to wear warmer outdoor clothes and snow pants.*We have another Mystery Skype planned for this Friday afternoon! Language Arts - This week we are going to write and record an Audio Christmas Card for someone special.Math - We are going to learn about Extending Number Patterns and Growing Patterns this week.Social Studies - We are going to finish our Notebook presentations on our Canadian Explorer.Let's have another Superstar Week!

This Week in GG4SS November 30 - December 4

 It is Christmas Concert week at Gretna Green!! Our concert will be held on Wednesday December 2 at 10 and 12:30.  Remember to dress nice for the concert..-We have another Mystery Skype this week on Friday December 4.  We will be participating in the global #skypeathon.*Great work on Mathletics last week. We were in the lead for most of the week.  You are Superstars!!!Language Arts- This week we be looking at Syllables.Math - We will be starting a new unit on Patterns.Social Studies - This week we will start our Biographies on a Canadian Explorer. Let's have another Superstar week!

 It is Mathletics Marathon Week at GG!  Remember to log on to Mathletics Sunday at 3:00 and start collecting points for 4S!* We have our 2nd Mystery Skype this week on Friday.* We will continie to practice our Christmas songs this week. Our Christmas concert is one week from Wednesday!Language Arts - This week we will be learning about transition words and working more with syllables.Math - We will be finishing the last lesson in our unit on Data ManagementSocial Studies - We will be starting our biographies on an explorer. Let's have another Superstar week!

This Week GG4SS - November16-20

 It is Book Fair week at GG!!! We will be visiting the Book Fair on Monday and Wednesday from 9:00-9:30.It will also be open on Thursday eveing during Parent-Teacher.*Report Cards go home on Monday.*Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place on Thursday evening and Friday morning.  There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, November 20 due to Parent-Teacher Interviews.*We will be having our first Mystery Skype of the year on Tuesday afternoon.Language Arts - We will be working on the writing trait of Organization as well as reading comprehension stratgies.Math - We will be learning about Pictographs and Bar Graphs.Social Studies - We will be finishing our Autobiographies.Let's have another Super Star week.

 I hope everyone had a great weekend and I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather.*There is NO SCHOOL on Wednesday in honor of Remembrance Day.*Our Remembrance Day assembly will take place on Tuesday,November 11 at 10:15.*We are going to learn what a Mystery Skype is this week because next week we have our very first Mystery Skype of the year.Language Arts - We are going to work on the Writing Trait of Organization.Math - We are going to start a new unit of study on Data Analysis.Social Studies - We are going to start our unit on Exploration. Let's have another Superstar week!
