This Week in GG4SS - November 3-7

  Happy November! It is coming in with a bang!! Remember to have warm clothing and footwear for outdoor recess. It is important to have indoor and outdoor footwear! *It is a quiet week in GG4SS. We will continue practicing for our Remembrance Assembly. Language Arts - This week we will be learning about contractions, working with our Nifty Fifty words and continuing with our Writing Traits.Math - We are going to complete a review of our Unit on Whole Numbers and we will have the test on Wednesday.Social Studies - We are going to start our Unit on Exploration!                                              Let's have another Superstar Week!

This Week in GG4SS - October 27-31

It's Halloween Week at Gretna Green and in GG4SS.Monday, October 27th – Pumpkin Decorating Day & Buddy Writing Spooky StoriesTuesday, October 28th – Scary Hair DayWednesday, October 29th – Treat Bags & Gym Class Halloween ActivitiesThursday, October 30th – Orange & Black DayFriday, October 31st – Costume Parade & Wrap the Teacher Mummy Contest(Costumes can only be put on for the afternoon.)From October 27th -31st, the student council will hold their annual CandyGuess. Each guess is $0.25 and the correct guesser wins all the candy!!! Winner will be announced on Friday, October 31st. Language Arts - This week we will be finishing our Bad Kitty stories and working with our Nifty Fifty WordsMath - We will be learning Mental Math Strategies for subtracting 3 and 4 digit numbers.Social Studies - We will be beginning our Unit on Explorers.Let's have another Super Star week! Happy Halloween!!!

This Week in GG4SS - October 20-24

Welcome to a 5 day school week!!! It is going to be another great week. *Picture Re-takes will be on Wednesday for anyone interested in a Re-Take*The New Theme Song Contest will kick off this week.  If you are interested in creating a song for Morning Announcements, be sure to attend the meeting on Tuesday at 9:45.*Mad Science continues this week.*Remember to return your homefolders!!! :) Language Arts - This week we will be learning about Synonyms and Antonyms,  We will also work with our Nifty Fifty Words and we will be working on the planning of a story.Math - We will finish up adding with 3 and 4 digit numbers.Science - We will present our Rocks and Mineral projects. Let's have another Superstar week!

Field Trip Tomorrow!!

 A reminder that we will be going on a Field Trip tomorrow to the New Miramichi Fire Station and to 95.9 SUN FM.  We will be leaving at 9:00 and we will return by 11:30.

This Week in GG4SS - October 14-17

 Welcome back to another fabulous week in GG4SS!!! Only 4 short days of school this week!* Last week's cancelled Cross Country run in Blackville is re-scheduled for this Wednesday. It is the last run of the season.*The grade 4-5 Soccer Jamboree will take place on Thursday afterschool at CROFT! The first game is at 3:30.*Mad Science continues this week.*Drama continues this week..check your schedule for your practice time.* Our School Fundraiser will end on Friday.  There are lots of great prizes for those of you who sell.On Wednesday this week, we will be going on our Field Trip to the Fire Station and 95.9 SUN FM!!! Language Arts - We will be working on the first of the Nifty Fifty words this week.  As well, we will continue to explore the Writing Trait of Ideas.Math - This week we will be working on Adding with 3 and 4 digit numbersScience - We will finish up our Rocks and Mineral projects and present them to the class. Let's have another Superstar week!!!

This Week in GG4SS October 6 - October 8

 We have 3 day week ahead of us!! There will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday and Friday this week due to Professional Learning Days for teachers.  Also, Monday is Thanksgiving Monday and there will be NO SCHOOL!!* Drama, Cross Country and Soccer continue this week.*Our school Fundraiser starts this week!  Language Arts - We will continue with our Daily 5 this week.  Our Spelling Test will be on Wednesday. We will also finish up the "Night Before Thanksgiving" activity.Math - We will finish our Lesson on Mental Math Strategies.Science - We will develop a Rubrix for our Rock and Mineral projects and we will start working on our projects.Let's have another Superstar week!

This Week in GG4SS - September 29 - October 3

 This is the last week of September and the beginning of October and we have a great week ahead of us.Congratulations again on being chosen as the Dynamo Dragon and Class of the Month and also congratulations to Max, our Go Go Getter Student of the Month!!*Tuesday we have Guest Speaker via Skype, Richard Chapman.  He is going to talk to us about Super Volcanoes!!!*Thursday - Mr. Savoy has a Geocaching session lined up for us!  We will be learning more about Rocks and Minerals through Geocaching.Cross Country, Soccer and Drama continue this week.Welcome back to Gretna Green Aidan Allison and welcome to GG4SS!! You are a SUPERSTAR!! Language Arts - We will be continue to work on our Daily 5.  We are trying to become better readers, writers and spellers!  We will also be working on vowel sounds.Math - We will be looking at Mental Math stratgies for adding big numbers.Social Studies - we will be continuing with our Unit on Rocks and Minerals.Let's have a another Superstar week!

Walking School Bus

Remember that the Walking School Bus will take place tomorrow(Friday September 26). Be at the Northumberland Square Mall by 7:30 and join us in walking to school. It is a great way to start your day!

This Week in GG4SS-September 22-26

It is hard to beat the fun we had last week, but we do another another exciting week ahead of us! *Monday is Election Day. GG will be having their Student Council Election. Good luck to Riley and Max who are running for Vice-President. *Tuesday we will have our first Mystery Skype of the year. *Friday is our Walking School Bus/Terry Fox Walk. We will be meeting at the Northumberland square mall at 7:30 and walking to school. Remember to bring in Spare Change this week for the Terry Fox Spare Change Drive. Soccer and Cross Country continue this week.   Language Arts- we will be starting our Daily 5 this week. We will also learn how to complete a Book Response. Math- We will be learning how to sort numbers and we will start our lesson on Estimating. Social Studies- our first Mystery Skype Science- we will be starting our Unit on Rocks and Minerals                                                        Let's have another Superstar week!

This Week in GG4SS - September 15 - 19

 Week 3 in GG4SS!!! We have so much learning and fun ahead of us this week!*Picture Day is Wednesday this week.  Dress nice and bring your smile!!!!!*Cross country continues on Monday and Wednesday.  Your first meet is Wednesday afterschool at Gretna Green ....good luck.*Soccer continues on Tuesday and Thursday. Language Arts - This week we will continue with Read to Self, Work on Writing and Word Work.  We will also be practicing Read to Someone.Math - We will start Lesson 2 on Comparing Numbers.  Remember to study the 2 and 3 times tables. There will be a timed quiz on Friday.Social Studies - We will continue working on our Terry Fox Spare Change Drive Presentations,  Hopefully we can present to the school by Wednesday or Thursday.Our first Mystery Skype will be on September 23, so we will be preparing for this as well. Let's have another Superstar week!!
