End of Year Assignments-Grade 6 and Grade 8

Hello Parents and Guardians!

For many months I have not had to post homework for any of my classes as we have been getting it all done in class.  However, with end of year coming up, students need a little extra time at home this weekend to finish their assignments despite having the last several weeks in class to work on them.

For Grade 6-they will need to finish up their Sciences Humaines Scratch Projects.  They were sent home with their sheets that they need for them for those who are not done.  Assignments are due Monday, where they will have one final period to work on them.  

For grade 8-They have opinion texts to finish and are DUE TUESDAY AT THE END OF PERIOD 5 BEFORE THEY GO AWAY.  They know what to do, they just need to take the time to finish them.

Sciences Humaines Test-26 March 2019

Reminder of the Sciences Humaines Test on Tuesday.  Notes and study guide are located in the original post.  Students were reminded and told to bring their blue duotangs home to study.  We did a review today and many students did not study enough yet.  Please have them study this weekend.  We will do another review Monday.  The test will go ahead Tuesday morning.

Sciences Humaines Test-27 March 2019

Hello!

There will be a Sciences Humaines Test on the 27th of March 2019.  Students have been given notes and a study guide.  The test covers what we have been learning since the beginning of February.  I have attached all of what is included on the test here along with the appropriate notes.  Students were sent home with their blue duotangs in order to be able to study.  Please send them back next Monday as we will be using them to work on studying strategies.

A note from Mme Leclair-Grade 6 FI

Dear parents and students of 6FI,

The class started a new project yesterday in health class. We have been learning about addictions and dependances, so the class will be doing presentations on a specific type of addiction. Alone or with a partner, students will research their addiction following the guidelines stated in the info sheet I gave them. You will find the info sheet attached below. Students will present their findings by PowerPoint on MARCH 14TH. They had yesterday to start their project and will also have the next two classes before March Break to work on it. After that, if they are not finished within that time, they will have to work on their own time during March Break. This gives them 3 weeks of class time to work on the project. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!

STEM FAIR PROJECTS-Due February 20th 2019

Hello parents!

We are getting down to the nitty gritty with the stem fair projects.  A few students are at the putting the board together stage, some are finshing up their conclusions.  This is the stage where they should be at.  Projects are due next Wednesday February 20th 2019.  Students will be working on them in class until end of day Friday.  If they do not finish here at school, than they must finish them at home and correct the French to the best of their abilities using Microsoft word correcting and Bonpatron.com.  Students who are a little bit behind are asked to please get caught up and to use the day tomorrow should there be no school to do so.  Please find attached a document that students were given that helps explain the steps of writing a conclusion.  Also, attached, please find a step by step guide for the bibliography.    

Boards can start being brought into school, if students are at the stage of putting them together.  In class presentations will start next Friday-February 22nd 2019 for grade 6 FILA Science experiments.

Again. as always, thank you for helping your child on their STEM projects.  It is a great learning experience and they could not be done without you.

STEM FAIR-Experiments need to be completed by Tuesday at the latest

Hello!

Next week we are coming up on the final parts of the writing of the STEM Fair projects for grade 6 Sciences as well as the other sciences classes for grades 7 & 8.  Students need to have their experiments completed by Tuesday at the latest as they need to be able to write their conclusions in class.  I am attaching the handout students have been using to follow and complete their project in class.  I have done this, just in case some may have forgotten them at school.  Please see Madame Mcquaid Murphy's page for a great video explaining how to record data from the experiments.  As always, thank you for your help!  Students have been very excited in class sharing their stories about their parents helping them with their experiments and I know many of you are planning on doing them this weekend.  We thank you because the STEM process would not be able to happen without you.

No Infos-jeunes until after the March Break

Hello!

I have had a few emails about infos-jeunes-the weekly French reading comprehension students in grades 6-8 complete at home.  I have not assigned it and will not until after the March Break, simply because students have many projects in many classes that a fairly large (STEM projects etc) that they need to do at home right now.  We will recommence this after the March Break and I will post about it then.
