Grade 8 students are to know what they are bringing for the bake sale fundraiser for tomorrow morning.

Math 8

-Homework p. 186 Q 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and work on Mathletics tasks.

Math 7

-Homework was corrected today in class. Review sheets for area were given and need to be completed for next class. Formative test will be Thursday with the summative test Monday.

Math 6

-Formative test (practice test) will be passed back tomorrow.   Students may practice for our test on Thursday by using their Mathletics account.

Math 8

-Today we leant two methods to calculate surgace area of a cylinder.

Math 7

-p. 151 Q 1,2, 4 and 7

-Today we learnt how to find the area of a circle and how to use this concept to solve problems.

Math 6

-Today students wrote a formative test for module 4.  The summative test will be Thursday.  Students are encouraged to use their Mathletics acounts to review and practice.

Math 8

-We started module 4 on surface area.  We went over vocabulary and material from grade 6 and 7 that we will be building on this year as we look at 3D objects.

Math 7

-Mathletics today as many students were out for the play.

Math 6

-We were at the play for the most of this class.  Continue to work on Mathletics.

Science 7

-We reviewed variables, graphs and data tables today.   Small test Friday next week.

Science 6

-Today we learnt how to read a line graph and pull information from it to fill in a data table.   This will be tested on both the math and science provincial assessment.

-We started area of rectangles and composite figures today.  Please see notes for examples.

Science 7

-Started our project on jobs related to geology.  Students have a sheet of questions to research.  Studnets will present the research in a Smart Notebook file or powerpoint.

Science 6

-Students self edited their tea write up using the provincial rubrics.  They then had a chance to peer edit their work.

-We corrected homework today.

Math 6

-We corrected homework today, reviewed new math vocabulary and students had time to work on a perimeter assignment.  Assignment is not for homework.

Science 7

-Students did a science literacy assignment today after we did an oral review of chapter 10 material.

Science 8

-We were in the lab today working on the topic of refraction.  Students wrote a testable quetion and practiced their science drawings and recording observations.  Next class we will discuss conclusions.  Great work today!

-We are working in class on an algebra review assignment.

-At home students are to complete their Mathletics tasks.

Math 7

-Today students wrote their test.

-Mathletics tasks are due at the end of the week.

Math 6

-Today we learnt about polugones.  We saw that a quadrilateur is two triangles big and therefore the sum of the interior angles is 360 degrees. 

-homework p. 222 Q1 and 2 and p. 223 Q 7

Science 7

-We talked about erosion and meteorization.  Notes were passed out.  We watched a video that discussed formation of mountains and how fossils are made.

Science 6

-Today students wrote the sources for the flight research project.

-Students are to have the good copy (typed) of the Tea experiment (Variables should be listed along with a testable question, hypothesis and procedure) due for next Monday.  They can work on this during their Work period.

-We continue to work on algebra.  Today we looked at solving equations without models, with algebra tyles and with scale models.

-Students are to complete Mathletics assignments.

Math 6

-Today we did a practice vocabulary test.  We continued to work on angles and triangles.  Students learnt that the three angles of a triangle add up to 180.

-Students passed in a drawing triangles assignment today.

-Students are to complete Mathletics assignments.

-We are working in Module 6 on algebra.  Balance diagrams to model algebra.
